Klein’s Gourmet Foods was started by Jeremy Klein in 1999 in a home
kitchen in Caulfield. His concept was to enable people to eat
restaurant quality food in the comfort of their own home - food that
was 100% natural and 100% preservative free. The realisation that
people were time poor yet still wanted to eat home-cooked food was
how Klein’s came about.
Our mission was to produce food that was 100% home made; to make you
feel like you were sitting down at grandma’s table (if she was a
good cook). The thing that sets us apart from our competitors is the
fact that from day one we have only used top quality market produce
with absolutely no powders, cubes, boosters or preservatives of any
kind to enhance the flavour of our food. Too much of what people
were eating was chemically-enhanced non nutritious food that was
simply getting them by. It was time to get back to what food should
be about. Enjoyment, taste, nutrition & health!!
Within six months of starting, it was quite obvious that there was
great demand for our product and we had to move into commercial
premises. In March 2000, we opened our store in Glen Eira Road,
Ripponlea and have never looked back.
With a range that also caters for vegans, vegetarians, coeliacs, and
diabetics there’s something for everyone.
